Naval Air Station Lemoore made a bit of history Saturday (Feb. 12) when the first U.S. Navy deployment of the vaunted F-35 returned to Lemoore following its first deployment at sea in what turned out to be an eight-month journey with the U.S. 3rd and 7th Fleet.

And on hand to meet the aviators were local NAS Lemoore officials as well as families waiting in eager anticipation as the powerful jets began to land at the airbase.

The local air station’s Carrier Air Wing was the first to deploy the latest Navy jets that represent the “Air Wing of the Future” including the F-35C Lightning IIs of Strike Fighter Squadron FFA 147.
