New NAS Lemoore commander takes reins at Naval Air Station Lemoore at traditional change of command ceremony Friday
O’Conner will be the 27th commanding officer to lead NAS Lemoore and its fleet of jets, one of the largest Navy bases in the world. The new base commander began his Naval career in 2000.
Throughout his Navy career, Peterson has deployed countless times and participated in Operation Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom.
In a recent article, O'Connor said he is looking forward to his service at NAS Lemoore: “As I assume command of this outstanding team at NAS Lemoore, I am imbued with a deep sense of responsibility,” he said.
“I am humbled to be joining such a talented and dedicated group of sailors and civilians who have achieved so much and continue to showcase their unsurpassed skill every day. I am committed to continuing the legacy of excellence that Capt. Peterson has established during his tenure here, and I am eager to embark on this journey and see what we here at NAS Lemoore can accomplish together.”
