Lemoore High grad to speak at West Hills College Lemoore commencement

From West Hills College Lemoore

West Hills College Lemoore will hold this year’s commencement ceremony on May 21. Of the over 500 students graduating from the school this semester, nearly 250 are expected to participate in the ceremony.

In addition, a Lemoore High School alum will speak at the graduation ceremony. Kimberlie Raulino, of LHS, is one of the many students participating in the ceremony.

“Our 2015 Commencement Ceremony will see over 500 students receive degrees and certificates,” said President Don Warkentin. “For the first time, many students will earn the Associate Degree for transfer which will guarantee transfer into a California State University with a specified major.”

The ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the WHCL Golden Eagle Arena.

President Don Warkentin, who announced earlier this year that he would retire as president later this fall, is the commencement speaker. Warkentin has been president of the college since 2004.

Raulino, this year’s Student Government Association Commissioner of Clubs, is the student speaker. Raulino is graduating with two associate degrees in Liberal Arts and is transferring to Fresno Pacific University.

Edna Ivans, Nick Ivans and Gary Sedgwick will be recognized for awards previously received. All three were recently honored with the Spirt of the Eagle Award, which recognizes service and dedication to WHCL. Nick Ivans and Sedgwick passed away this year and will be honored posthumously.
