From West Hills College

More than 5,000 students will be enrolled at the West Hills Community College District when the fall semester begins on Aug. 17. As of early August, over 5,000 students were enrolled at West Hills College Coalinga, West Hills College Lemoore, North District Center, Firebaugh and online.

Registration figures show that 3,448 students have enrolled at West Hills College Lemoore, including 643 online enrollments. 1,793 have enrolled at West Hills College Coalinga, with 626 online students.

Enrollments are nearly even with last year.

Both campuses were active over the summer.

District-wide, nearly 3,000 students were enrolled in summer classes. WHCC and WHCL also hosted a variety of summer camps for area elementary, middle and high school students.

Events like the 5c Experience, Upward Bound Program, Chevron Fun Physical Science Camp, Wonderful Education Agriculture Career Camp and Huron Computer Coding and Programming Camp gave hundreds of area students a summer learning experience. The summer programs benefited nearly 500 participants.

Enrollment for the Spring 2016 semester is already strong, with more than 2,000 students enrolled thanks to the district’s innovative Reg365 program which allows students to enroll for a full year of classes in advance. Spring registration will remain open and is expected to grow before classes begin in January.
