WHC Lemoore community band seeks members

From West Hills College Lemoore

The Golden Eagle Winds community band, facilitated by West Hills College Lemoore Community Education, is looking for prospective members for its fall lineup running from Aug. 25 to Dec. 8.

The band is made up of students from WHCL and adult musicians from the area. Under the guidance of music instructor Lisa Butts, students learn music from a variety of eras and styles and perform at WHCL and other locations in the community.

“Students and community members who participate in the Golden Eagle Winds will get great instruction from one of the area’s best music instructors,” said James Preston, WHCL Dean of Educational Services.  Butts is a WHCL music instructor and Hanford West High School band director.

The band, which formed just last year, is scheduled to perform at several live events this fall and spring. Golden Eagle Winds has performed several times per semester at Hanford West High School and made an appearance at a Golden Eagles Women’s basketball game at the West Hills College arena.

Prospective band members must have at least three years of experience in high school or college level groups and must provide their own instruments.

“Joining the band allows you to enjoy playing your instrument and get back into the swing of being in a great concert band,” Butts said.

The band will meet on Tuesdays from 7 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. at the Hanford West High School Band Room.

Registration for the class costs $40. Register online at http://www.westhillscollege.com/lemoore/academics/community_education/index.asp.
