West Hills District offers transportation help to rural students

With the start of the spring semester on Jan. 11, West Hills Community College District will help students in rural communities overcome transportation issues by expanding bus and transportation services to West Hills College Coalinga and North District Center in Firebaugh.

The service rolling out on Monday will include the implementation of a new route to carry students to NDC in Firebaugh from surrounding communities. Round-trip bus service, offered in partnership with the Fresno County Rural Transit Agency, will run from Kerman, San Joaquin, Tranquility and Mendota to the Center. A new transportation option will also be offered to take students from Huron to WHCC. A new van service from Avenal to WHCC will start soon.

Specific stops and times for the new expanded two-way service are posted on the web at: WestHillsCollege.com/busroutes.

Existing bus service, offered by Kings County Area Public Transit Agency, will continue to deliver students to West Hills College Lemoore.

Students can apply for a bus pass at the office of student services at NDC or the Coalinga campus.
