Westlands Water District announced the eight recipients of its 2021 Westside Scholarship, an annual program that recognizes and rewards exceptional academic achievement and leadership shown by graduating seniors at area high schools. Small nonfarm businesses in 11 California counties – including Kings County – are now eligible to apply for low-interest federal disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration. Tanya N. Garfield, the director of SBA’s Disaster Field Operations Center-West said that the loans are meant to offset economic losses because of reduced revenues caused by drought in certain primary counties that began May 4, 2021.
