The Workers’ Compensation team at Adventist Health / Central Valley Network received a 2016 Theodore Roosevelt honorable mention award from Risk and Insurance magazine. The team was recognized for best practices in workers’ compensation and disability management, specifically in reducing needle sticks and improving ergonomics.

“Our ‘Return to Work’ program was one of the main reasons we won the award,” says Sonni Burrell, workers’ compensation manager. “This program allows us to be proactive in accommodating disabilities and keeping employees engaged in their work while they’re recovering.”

Engagement is key, Burrell says. Studies show that employees who are not engaged have higher rates of depression and higher rates of not returning to work.

“This award highlights why our organization is one of the best places to work,” says Wayne Ferch, network president and CEO. “I commend all of those involved for their commitment to excellence for our work family.”

The team received the award in December and is featured in Risk and Insurance magazine. The article may be accessed at http://www.riskandinsurance.com/caring-for-the-caregivers/
