The Lemoore City Council on Tuesday announced that its city manager, on administrative leave since January 11, will officially resign on Tuesday May 9, and the city could possibly seek an interim city manager to fill the void.

Lemoore Chief of Police Darrell Smith has been acting city manager since January and has been faced with two full-time jobs.

The Lemoore City Council reached a mutual separation agreement which resulted in the resignation of Welsh, and councilmembers have given no reason for her administrative leave or her scheduled resignation.

Welsh will also receive a separation payment of $152,900.

The council hired Welsh in June 2015 on a 5-0 vote to replace interim city manager Ron Hoggard, who in turn took over from former manager Jeff Laws, a former police chief as well.

Welsh came to the city with a wealth of experience. At her last position, she was an assistant to the town manager in the City of Gilbert since 2012. She was also an assistant city manager at El Mirage, and she worked from 2008 to 2011 as the Director of Community Services and Arts and Culture for the City of Sedona. She was also Sedona’s assistant city manager from 2004-2008.
