The Lemoore Chamber of Commerce announced this week that local Congressman David Valadao and Kings Fair Manager Angie Avila are this year’s honorees at the 23rd Annual Jack Stone-Kings County Salute to Agriculture Banquet.

The Lemoore Chamber of Commerce hosts the event on Friday, September 8, 2017, at the Fialho Family Hangar in Lemoore. Congressman Valadao is the 2017 Agriculturalist of the Year. The Ag Supporter of the Year will go to Angie Avila of Kings Fair.

Valadao, a three-term representative, was born and raised in the Valley. He represents California’s agriculturally rich 21st Congressional District. As a lifelong resident of the Central Valley, he has been active in agriculture and dairy industry groups, as well as many local causes including Children’s Hospital Central California, 4-H, Future Farmers of America, and various Catholic charities.

Intimately involved in the dairy industry, Valadao has taken on leadership roles within the California Milk Advisory Board and the Western States Dairy Trade Association. He was the Regional Leadership Council Chairman for Land O’ Lakes, Inc.

Valadao is being honored for his contributions and leadership to the dairy industry and Kings County. With his current common-sense approach, he has made a significant and positive difference to the health and welfare of agriculture and Kings County in general. His simple, non-egotistical approach is refreshing in this very confrontational time in our nation’s history.

Angie Avila was born into a dairy family and raised her family with an appreciation for agriculture. Employed by the Kings Fair for 30 years Angie has dedicated much of her life to promoting agriculture in Kings County and did her part to increase awareness and educate Kings County to the benefits of agriculture.

In addition to managing the daily operations of the Kings Fair, Angie works with and often volunteers with local 4-H and FFA chapters in addition to the Kings Junior Fair Board and Fair Foundation.
