Lemoore City Council faces big agenda and schedules third hearing on voting districts

By The Leader Staff

It could be a long night for the Lemoore City Council, much of it coming during the 5:30 study session that includes litigation issues and an item termed “Threat to Public Services.”  The city manager’s performance evaluation and labor negotiations are also on the docket.

The 7:30 regular session doesn’t appear quite as foreboding despite the scheduled third public hearing concerning the city’s move to voting districts.

Council members will also make a liaison appointment to the Kings County Economic Development Corporation (EDC), the county’s, the local economic development organization the city recently brought back into its fold.

The public recently got a sneak peek at four draft district maps created by the National Demographic Corps. The plans are posted at www.drawlemoore.org.

Councilmember shave already held a pair of sparsely attended public hearings in January hoping to gather public input in what inevitably will be five new voting districts in which electors vote for a candidate within their geographic area.
