Tachi Palace presents proceeds from February Community Breakfast to Kings Commission of Aging

Also, the organization presented a $5,000 check to Crystal Hernandez, wife of Kings County Fireman Keith Hernandez, who is battling cancer.
Nearly 700 people attended the fundraising breakfast, raising $5,372 at the door. Tachi Palace Hotel & Casino and the Santa Rosa Rancheria Tribe matched the amount, bringing the total of the Commission on Aging Council donation to $10,744.
Tachi Palace General Manager Willie Barrios was on hand to present the check to Bobbie Wartson, Executive Director of Services of Kings County Commission on Aging Council.
“We are dedicated to assisting the aging population of this community,” said Wartson. “We particularly focus on the socially isolated, lonely, frail and elderly, giving them assistance and providing much-needed services.”
The agency currently provides the following services: Information & Assistance, Consumer Services, Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program, Senior Companion Program (SCP), Adult Day Care for the frail and elderly, Behavioral Health Counseling (S.A.F.E.), Insurance Counseling (HICAP), Senior Nutrition, Preventive Health Care, Legal Assistance, Multipurpose Senior Services Program (MSSP), Fresh product first Wednesday of the month, and Linkages Program.
Another highlight of the breakfast was Tachi Palace Hotel & Casino General Manager Mr. Barrios and the Santa Rancheria Tribe donating funds to assist Hernandez in his cancer treatment.
“As a local firefighter, Keith has served and protected our area and the tribe, and the Tachi Palace team wanted to show him he has the support of our community, and let him know, no one fights cancer alone,” said Barrios. “We are asking that for those who have the means to, please donate to Keith’s Go Fund Me page for his treatment costs.”
The Kings County Firefighters Local 3747 is selling custom-made challenge coins for $20 as a fundraiser. They are available for purchase on their Facebook Page.
The next community breakfast will be held on Friday, March 30, and will benefit the Episcopal Church Soup Kitchen. Tachi Palace hosts a monthly community breakfast that features a breakfast buffet, informative community news, and business networking, as well as raffle prizes. Attendees are encouraged to make a minimum donation of $5 and all contributions benefit a featured organization. For more information, visit tachipalace.com.
