Lemoore’s Nov. 6 election results are on the agenda for Tuesday night’s Lemoore City Council meeting. Two new members – Chad Billingsley and Stuart Lyons – are slated to be sworn following their recent wins.

The two new members were the first to be elected via the city's new council voting districts, implemented earlier in 2018.

Councilmembers, once the body’s reorganization is complete, will also select a new mayor to replace the outgoing Mayor Ray Madrigal. The mayor is generally chosen every two years at the council’s change.

Two-term Councilmember Eddie Neal currently sits as the vice mayor or Mayor pro tem.

Voting for the first time in city-wide districts, newcomer Billingsley easily outpolled opponent Tony Garcia to win his first foray into local politics. Billingsley crushed Garcia 895-329. Lyons won his seat amassing 783 votes to Madrigal’s 551 votes.

In other news councilmembers, during its study session, will consider establishing an “ad hoc committee” for economic development, a somewhat temporary committee designed to get input from the community as it discusses the direction of the city’s economic growth.

City officials suggest that the committee should last no longer than a year and its ideas incorporated into a draft Economic Development Plan councilmember will eventually peruse.
