Lemoore police officers used surveillance video from an apartment complex to help them identify a suspect in the theft of a white 1991 Honda CRX on Sunday, Dec. 23.

The theft took place in an apartment area on East Hanford Armona Road. The victim described the vehicle as a while 1991 Honda and told police that he was in possession of all the keys.

The patrol officers obtained surveillance video from the apartment complex, and video footage showed a male suspect walking around the complex and ultimately locating the vehicle reported stolen. The suspect used what appeared to be the keys to gain access to the inside of the car and then drive it away within minutes.

Lemoore Police Detectives, with the assistance of the Kings County Probation Department, identified the suspect as Jonathan Fernandez, 28.

On January 15, 2019, Lemoore Police Detectives and Kings County Probation Officers conducted a probation search at the suspect’s residence located in Kings County. The original vehicle reported stolen from Lemoore was located. Police found two additional stolen cars at this residence. One vehicle was reported stolen out of Gilroy, California and another car reported taken out of Lemoore.

One of the vehicles appeared to be missing components and was likely being stripped. The search also produced multiple keys that had been altered to unlock older model vehicles.

Police arrested Fernandez and booked him into the Kings County Jail for the following violations: CVC 10801 Chop Shop Operation, CVC 10851 (a) Vehicle Theft, PC 496 d (a) Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, and PC 466 Possession of Burglary Tools. Bail was set at $90,000 dollars.
