Kings County Sheriff's Department acts quickly to arrest two in Wednesday Hanford shooting

The Kings County Sheriff’s Department quickly determined the identities of a pair of suspects involved in a shooting on Wednesday in the area of 6th Avenue and Burris Park Road, finding the two suspects in hiding out in a Fresno residence.

The two, Sergio Cisneros Barrita, 19, and Jose Luis Barrita, 21, were arrested and taken into custody and then booked into the Kings County jail on attempted murder charges. Bail was set at $500,000 apiece.

It was on Wednesday that Kings deputies were dispatched to 6th Avenue and Burris Park Road. The victim in the shooting was transported to Selma Hospital and later to CRMC by ambulance.

Deputies located the exact shooting site about a quarter-mile east of 6th Avenue and quarter-mile north of Burris Park Road. Once on the scene, investigators from the Kings County Sheriff’s Office and the Kings County Major Crimes Task Force began to process the evidence and speak to witnesses.

Investigators at that point were able to identify both suspects. Local law enforcement officials are treating this incident gang-related. The victim is still hospitalized and stable.
