West Hills College Lemoore was placed on a lockdown for about 25 minutes as Lemoore police officers quickly responded to a call of threats made to the local school. It took that long to locate 18-year-old Benjamin Morehead, who is suspected of sending a text message threatening to “shoot up” the college.

Officers responded to the college while providing the suspect’s information to local agencies. Morehead was located just a short while later near 14th and Jackson Avenue by the Kings County Sheriff’s department and arrested without incident.

Morehead did not have any weapons.

The school was on lockdown until Morehead’s arrest. The suspect was booked into the Kings County Jail on suspicion of terrorist threats. He is being held on $50,000 bail.

Following the arrest, classes resumed as usual.
