Kings County public health officials confirm 22 additional COVID-19 cases

The Kings County Department of Public Health (KCDPH) has confirmed 22 additional cases of the Novel Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). KCDPH has determined that four new cases contracted the disease through close contact with a confirmed case.

The exposure of the 18 additional cases is still under investigation. Four cases are being treated in isolation and all other cases have been quarantined. KCDPH has also identified one previously identified cases that have fully recovered from the disease.

KCDPH is currently conducting communicable disease investigations to identify any persons who may have had close personal contact with these individuals, including any friends, family members, or health care professionals, to assess and monitor them for signs and symptoms of illness. Due to privacy laws, no specific information regarding any of the 233 cases can be shared with the public.

As of May 6, California health officials report that the state now has 58,815 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 2,412 deaths. Local health departments also report that as of May 5, their departments have reported 6,368 confirmed positive cases in health care workers and 36 deaths statewide. More than 809,036 tests have been given in California.
