Kings County COVID-19 Update: Health officials Sunday afternoon confirm 12 new cases

The Kings County Department of Public Health (KCDPH) Sunday afternoon confirmed 12 additional cases of the Novel Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). KCDPH has determined that one new case contracted the disease through close contact with a confirmed case.

The exposure of the 11 additional cases is still under investigation. Seven cases are being treated in isolation and all other cases have been quarantined. The below list depicts the current situation in Kings County:

  • 158 (Close Contact)
  • 19 (Community Transmission)
  • 107 (Under Investigation)

Total Deaths: 1

Recovered: 50

The KCDPH is currently conducting communicable disease investigations to identify any persons who may have had close personal contact with these individuals, including any friends, family members, or health care professionals, to assess and monitor them for signs and symptoms of illness. Due to privacy laws, no specific information regarding any of the 287 cases can be shared with the public. Latest California Update

As of May 8, California health officials report that the state now has 62,512 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 2,585 deaths. Local health departments also report that as of May 7, their departments have reported 6,821 confirmed positive cases in health care workers and 36 deaths statewide. More than 875,272 tests have been given in California.
