COVID-19 Update: Health officials confirm 31 additional cases in Kings County

The Kings County Department of Public Health (KCDPH) has confirmed 31 additional cases of Novel Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). KCDPH has determined at 15 of the new cases contracted the disease through close contact with a confirmed case.

KCDPH has determined that 15 of the new cases contracted the disease through close contact with a confirmed case. The exposure of the additional 16 new cases is still under investigation. Of the total active cases, 10 are being treated in isolation, and all other cases have been quarantined. KCDPH has also identified seven previously identified cases that have fully recovered.

  • 154 (Under Investigation)

 KCDPH is currently conducting communicable disease investigations to identify any persons who may have had close personal contact with these individuals, including any friends, family members, or health care professionals, to assess and monitor them for signs and symptoms of illness. Due to privacy laws, no specific information regarding any of the 488 cases can be shared with the public.

As of May 21, California health officials report that the state now has 86,197 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 3,542 deaths. Local health departments also report that as of May 20, their departments have reported 8,973 confirmed positive cases in health care workers and 47 deaths statewide. More than 1,421,127 tests have been given in California.
