COVID-19 Update: Kings County health officials confirm six additional cases Wednesday

Wednesday night's announcement comes on the heels of a third death from Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). Health officials said that the deceased individual’s exposure was from close contact with a confirmed case. The patient was over 65 years old.
Of the total active cases, 11 are being treated in isolation, and all other cases have been quarantined.
The Kings County Department of Public Health said that 18 previously identified cases have fully recovered from the disease.

KCDPH is currently conducting communicable disease investigations to identify any persons who may have had close personal contact with these individuals, including any friends, family members, or health care professionals, to assess and monitor them for signs and symptoms of illness. Due to privacy laws, no specific information regarding any of the 698 cases can be shared with the public.

As of May 27, California health officials report that the state now has 98,980 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 3,884 deaths. Local health departments also note that as of May 26, their departments have reported 9,379 confirmed positive cases in health care workers and 51 deaths statewide. More than 1,736,894 tests have been given in California.
