COVID-19 Update: Kings County health officials report ninth death, 39 more cases

The Kings County Department of Public Health (KCDPH) on Tuesday (June 16) confirmed a ninth death from COVID-19. County officials say the death was the result of close contact with a confirmed case. The individual was over 65 years old.

Kings County health officials also report 39 new cases. Twenty are associated with Kings County's prisons. The KCDPH says 21 of the new cases contracted the disease through close contact with a confirmed case. The exposure of the additional 18 cases is still under investigation. Of the total active cases, there are 27 cases being treated in isolation, and all other cases have been quarantined. 

KCDPH has identified 48 cases that have fully recovered from the disease. The following list depicts the current situation in Kings County:

KCDPH is currently conducting communicable disease investigations to identify any persons who may have had close personal contact with these individuals, including any friends, family members, or health care professionals, to assess and monitor them for signs and symptoms of illness. Due to privacy laws, no specific information regarding any of the 1,870 cases can be shared with the public.
