COVID-19 Update: Health officials confirm 36 new cases Thursday night

The Kings County Department of Public Health (KCDPH) confirmed 36 additional COVID-19 cases Thursday night.

Five confirmed cases are connected to California's state prisons located in Kings County.

KCDPH has determined that 10 of the new cases contracted the disease through close contact with a confirmed case. The exposure of the other 26 cases is under investigation. Of the total active cases, there are 26 cases being treated in isolation, and all others have been quarantined. The health department has identified six previously identified cases that have recovered from the disease.

  • 281 (Under Investigation) 

Total Deaths: 10

Recovered: 1,017

KCDPH is currently conducting communicable disease investigations to identify any persons who may have had close personal contact with these individuals, including any friends, family members, or health care professionals, to assess and monitor them for signs and symptoms of illness. Due to privacy laws, no specific information regarding any of the 1,976 cases can be shared with the public.
