COVID-19 Update: Kings County health officials Saturday confirm three deaths

The Kings County Department of Public Health (KCDPH) on Saturday night, June 20, Friday confirmed three more Novel Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) associated deaths, bringing the county's total to 15 fatalities. Health officials have determined the patients' exposure came from close contact with a confirmed case.

Two of these individuals were over the age of 65 and, and the other individual was between the ages of 50 and 64 years old.

“We would like to offer our condolences to the families during this time,” said Edward Hill, director of the Kings County Department of Health.

The Kings County Department of Public Health (KCDPH) has also confirmed 34 additional cases of Novel Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID19). Of the 34 new cases, a total of six cases are from Kings County's state prisons. KCDPH has determined that 21 of the new cases contracted the disease through close contact with a confirmed case.

The exposure of the additional 13 remaining new cases is still under investigation. Of the total active cases, 33 cases are being treated in isolation, and all other cases have been quarantined.

KCDPH has also identified 38 previously identified cases that have fully recovered from the disease.

KCDPH is currently conducting communicable disease investigations to identify any persons who may have had close personal contact with these individuals, including any friends, family members, or health care professionals, to assess and monitor them for signs and symptoms of illness. Due to privacy laws, no specific information regarding any of the 2,091 cases can be shared with the public
