COVID-19 Update: 21st death confirmed Thursday evening; 45 more patients recover

The Kings County Department of Public Health (KCDPH) confirmed Thursday evening night  (June 25) the 21st Novel Coronavirus 2019 death in Kings County. The exposure of the patient is under investigation. The individual was over 65 years old.

“COVID-19 has claimed the life of yet another Kings County resident,” said Edward Hill, the Kings County Department of Public Health director. “We extend our heartfelt condolences to the friends and families of those that have been lost to the disease.”

The KCDPH has also confirmed 50 additional cases of COVID-19 in Kings County. Of the 50 new cases, two are associated with Kings County’s state prisons. County officials also determined that two cases contracted the disease through close contact with a confirmed case. The exposure of the additional 48 persons is still under investigation. Of the total caseload, 33 cases are being treated in isolation, and all other cases have been quarantined.

KCDPH has also identified 45 previously identified cases that have fully recovered from the disease.

KCDPH is currently conducting communicable disease investigations to identify any persons who may have had close personal contact with these individuals, including any friends, family members, or health care professionals, to assess and monitor them for signs and symptoms of illness. Due to privacy laws, no specific information regarding any of the 2,284 cases can be shared with the public.
