COVID-19 Update: Kings County health officials confirm two more deaths Sunday night

The Kings County Department of Public Health tonight (June 26) confirmed two additional COVID-19 deaths Sunday, June 28.

Health officials indicate that exposure to confirmed contributed to the fatalities. The patients were over 65 years old.

“It is with heavy heart that we report two additional Novel Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) deaths in Kings County. We ants to express our condolences to the loved ones these individuals leave behind,” said Edward Hill, the Kings County Department of Public Health director. “As we continue to make our way through this pandemic, we want to remind everyone of the importance of protecting themselves as well as all those around them from this disease.”

The KCDPH also confirmed 33 additional cases of COVID-19. Of the 32 new cases seven are associated with Friday’s count and the remaining 25 additional cases reflect today’s Sunday’s case count. One patient contracted the disease through close contact with a confirmed case. The additional 31 cases are under investigation.

Of the total active cases, there are 34 being treated in isolation, and all other cases have been quarantined.

 KCDPH is currently conducting communicable disease investigations to identify any persons who may have had close personal contact with these individuals, including any friends, family members, or health care professionals, to assess and monitor them for signs and symptoms of illness. Due to privacy laws, no specific information regarding any of the 2,350 cases can be shared with the public.
