COVID-19 Update: Health officials reports 30th death, ask public to complete survey

The Kings County Department of Public Health on Monday night (June 30) confirmed the county's 30th death due to coronavirus and 23 additional cases of COVID-19, one of the individuals was associated with Kings County prisons. The exposure of the fatality was determined to be close contact. The individual was over 65 years old.

"The Kings County Department of Public Health suffers along with the community over three losses due to COVID-19," said Edward Hill, Director of the Kings County Department of Public Health. "We express our sincere condolences to the friends and family of the deceased."

The Kings County Department of Public Health has created a survey regarding COVIC-19 testing, and health officials are wanting the community's opinion in order to determine what works best for Kings County. They are wanting to reach out to as many people as possible within the community.

Of the 23 news cases, in addition to the one prison case, KCDPH has determined that one of the new cases contracted the disease through close contact with a confirmed case. The exposure of the remaining 22 cases is still under investigation. Of the total active cases, 30 patients are being treated in isolation, and all the other cases are quarantined.

Total Cases Associated to State-Operated Correctional Facilities in Kings County: 1,139

KCDPH is currently conducting communicable disease investigations to identify any persons who may have had close personal contact with these individuals, including any friends, family members, or health care professionals, to assess and monitor them for signs and symptoms of illness. Due to privacy laws, no specific information regarding any of the 2,417 cases can be shared with the public.
