Kings County health officials say local residents will be able to schedule COVID-19 vaccine appointments online

Kings County residents will soon be able to schedule vaccine appointments online.  The Kings County Department of Public Health (KCDPH) is transitioning to the State’s mandated MyTurn, a website platform to schedule COVID-19 vaccine appointments.

MyTurn includes an interest survey feature so residents can be notified when they are eligible for the vaccine. The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) piloted the appointment-setting platform in two Southern California counties and is now working on implementation across the State.

Currently, only healthcare workers in Phase 1A and individuals 65 and older from Phase 1B of the State’s Vaccinate All 58-Tiered system are eligible to schedule appointments through MyTurn. The system will allow for scheduling among additional populations as more vaccine becomes available.

MyTurn will allow patients to search for vaccine clinics near them and either schedule their appointment online or call in to get assistance with scheduling and registration. At this time, KCDPH and Aria Community Health will be closing waitlists in anticipation of the change. Both agencies are manually scheduling patients from the waitlist at this time, as MyTurn does not have a waitlist feature and will open appointments to all eligible individuals at once.

It was also announced Wednesday, February 10, 2021, that the Federal Pharmacy Partnership vaccine program would be coming to a CVS location in Kings County. The program allows specific pharmacy locations to be designated vaccine providers for eligible individuals.

The CVS Pharmacy located at 574 W Lacey Blvd. in Hanford will be vaccinating by appointment as the vaccine becomes available. For more details, visit www.cvs.com.

KCDPH staff will continue to provide as much information as possible to County residents and are working hard to ensure those at the highest risk of exposure or serious illness from COVID-19 are vaccinated. These efforts include making sure the limited amount of vaccine allocated by the State reaches all parts of the County and are available to all residents, regardless of where they live.
