Following a nationwide search for a new West Hills Community College District Chancellor, the college’s trustees on Tuesday (April 20) decided to stick close to home, selecting West Hills College Lemoore President Dr. Kristin Clark to lead the multi-campus district.

Clark will begin her new duties on July 1, 2021, when current West Hills College Community College District Chancellor Dr. Stuart Van Horn retires on June 30.

Dr. Clark has served the Central San Joaquin Valley's Westside as President of West Hills College Lemoore (WHCL) since January 2016.

“The entire West Hills College Board is excited to have Kristin Clark as our next chancellor,” said Mark McKean, the WHC Board of Trustees current board president.  “We look forward to her student-centered focus and enthusiasm that will bring success to all of us as we prepare to return to more traditional education."

Clark certainly has the experience, over 26 years in higher education administration. As president at WHCL, she led the college to reaffirm accreditation and innovated several student success initiatives. Her long-term commitment and service in the community college system, coupled with her passion for guiding, learning, and collaborating with rural community members, has ensured progressive educational practices at WHCL.

"Together, we are contributing to an exciting time in higher education. As the new chancellor, I am committed to continuing our mission to expand the West Hills Community College District's innovative culture and advance our student-centered commitment,” said Clark.

“I am passionate about our community and dedicated to enriching students' lives through equitable practices and upward mobility opportunities. I am thankful for this incredible opportunity to partner with our  WHC Board of Trustees and to lead and collaborate with West Hills classified staff, faculty, and administrators toward our relentless pursuit of student success.”

Clark holds a Doctorate Degree in Higher Education Management from the University of Pennsylvania, a master’s degree in Educational Technology, and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Her academic contributions include teaching graduate-level courses at California State University Fullerton, co-authoring a white paper on student success, guest lecturing on leadership topics, and presenting at numerous state, national, and international symposiums, including Canada and Kazakhstan.

Her passion and understanding of the community college system and her wide variety of experiences and practices ideally support the district's vision, the relentless pursuit of student success. She is married to her husband Glen and has two sons and three grandchildren.
