The Breast Care Center at Hanford's Adventist Medical Center has added a second full-time radiologist to its team. Sheila Kompala, MD, joins Co-Mammographer and Radiology Medical Director Dr. Malcolm Whitaker. Dr. Kompala will be the primary mammographer at the center. She is a board-certified radiologist with a fellowship in body imaging and a focus on breast imaging. She’s a graduate of Bangalore Medical College in southern India, where she grew up.

Dr. Kompala completed her residency at the University of Colorado and a fellowship at Cedars Sinai Medical Center. She practiced for many years in Colorado and Northern California before moving to Hanford.

Dr. Kompala chose women’s imaging because she likes the advances happening in breast imaging. “It’s a fun specialty with so many new innovations, and it is an opportunity to educate and serve women.”

Dr. Kompala will also be available to read mammograms and ultrasounds from AMC-Selma and AMC-Reedley. She wants the community to know she is always willing to educate and answer questions.

Dr. Kompala lives in Hanford with her husband, and has two college-aged children. In her free time, she enjoys hiking and other outdoor activities. She’s been to Yosemite many times, but says she would like to explore the Sierra.

The Breast Care Center is located at 125 Mall Drive, 2nd Floor, Suite 203 in Hanford. The center is open Monday – Friday, from 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. For more information, call 559-537-2280.
