Adventist Health / Central Valley Network welcomed Dr. Tessa Tovado to its staff. The board-eligible pediatrician joined Dr. Michael Gage at Gage Pediatrics in Hanford. She’s accepting patients by appointment, and will care for newborns at Central Valley General Hospital.

Dr. Tovado grew up in Perryton, Texas. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Texas, Austin. Dr. Tovado attended medical school at the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Worth, completed her internship at Driscoll Children’s Hospital Corpus Christi, Texas, and residency at University of California, San Francisco, Fresno.

“I wanted to be a doctor since the eighth grade,” says Dr. Tovado. “At the time, my brother was entering medical school, and I became interested in medicine, as well.”

Dr. Tovado enjoys working with children, and has always wanted a career in pediatrics.

“It’s rewarding to work with children because they have such bright futures and it’s a privilege to help improve their health,” she says, “and also, they say the funniest things.”

Dr. Tovado is married to a pilot at Naval Air Station, Lemoore. She says the community has been really great and welcoming.

In her free time, she enjoys horseback riding, hiking, skiing, camping and boating.

Dr. Tovado may be reached at Gage Pediatrics, 1560 West Lacey Blvd., Suite 101, with a phone number of 559-584-4764.
