A Corcoran family earned the annual rite of passage known as Kings County’s first birth. Congratulations to Elena and Martin of Corcoran! The couple rang in the New Year with their third child, but first baby girl.

Guadalupe is the first Kings County baby of 2015. She was born at 12:37 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 1, at Adventist Health/Central Valley General Hospital in Hanford. Baby Guadalupe weighed in at 7 pounds, 1 ounce, and is 21 inches in length.

To celebrate her arrival as the first baby of the year, hospital staff presented the proud parents with a baby bath tub full of baby items.

Guadalupe will be among the last New Year’s Day babies born at Central Valley General Hospital, since Adventist Health plans to open a new Family Birth Center in early 2016. The 49,000-square-foot center will be built adjacent to Adventist Medical Center in Hanford and will replace the current birth center at Central Valley General Hospital. The new center will feature 31 private rooms and six neonatal intensive care beds, monitored by staff from Valley Children’s Healthcare.
