There were about 1,700 tickets sold for Saturday’s Second Annual Kings Brewfest, but it seemed as if the entire community of Lemoore was at Kings Lions Complex having fun, sipping beer, and enjoying good music.
Even 100-plus temperatures didn’t faze the large crowd as it poured into the 19th Avenue basin Saturday beginning at 5 p.m. The annual party ended at 9 a.m.

The event could bring a payday of upwards of $40,000 for the active club, which also on Sunday, dedicated the 19th Avenue Park as the Kings Lions Complex. The Lions also gave away a significant chunk of their earnings to a number of local groups, including the Police Athletic League, Lemoore Christian Aide, Lemoore Recreation, and Reestablishing Stratford, a new organization which hopes to boost the local community south of Lemoore.
“I think we sold 1,650 tickets,” said Kings Lions Club President Ray Etchegoin, who clearly was pleased with the large turnout on what turned out to be a very hot June day. “I’m was surprised that with the heat I didn’t think we would get the whole crowd, but I don’t think too many people stayed home. It looks like they’re all here.”
Etchegoin was particularly pleased that the Lions will be able to support many agencies and groups in the area with financial donations, mostly derived from Lions’ events like the Brewfest. “Lions Club in general, everything we raise goes back to the community.”
