This year’s annual Christmas Parade, hosted by the Lemoore Recreation Department, was a turnabout of sorts. Instead of a plethora of floats, marching bands, and Christmas characters parading in Lemoore’s downtown, Lemoore’s devoted residents became the parade.
And boy did they show up. A quick tour around the city revealed a long line of parade enthusiasts, in their cars, lining up the length of Cinnamon Avenue to catch a glimpse of this year’s holiday parade.
In large part, the usual suspects were on hand, from local floats to kids showing off their various talents. And, of course, Santa and his spouse, Mrs. Clause, were in attendance.
The new format was obviously the result of the Coronavirus pandemic, and on Saturday night, there may not have been many parade watchers worried about it. However, organizers did adhere to COVID-19 rules, which required those who participated in wearing masks. Social distancing even occurred.
This year’s theme – Favorite Christmas characters – certainly proved its point. There were plenty of characters in attendance Saturday night.
The event, which began at 6 p.m., ended a little bit before 8:30 p.m. As soon as it was over, the streets were cleaned up, and D Street opened to traffic by 8:30 p.m.
