Record sales figures for Sequoia Shuttle to National Park
Sequoia Shuttle provides tourists from our local community and around the world with a convenient, cost-effective means of transportation when visiting the Sequoias. Visalia Transit Manager Monty Cox stated, “The Sequoia Shuttle has been an enormous success for Visalia Transit. We launched the shuttle service in 2007 with a goal of providing visitors with a stress-free way of experiencing the park. Since that time the popularity of the shuttle has grown dramatically as more and more people are looking for eco-friendly ways to travel.
”For the second year, Sequoia Shuttle also offered underserved youth the opportunity to visit the park free of charge through the Kids to Trees grant program. Kids who qualified experienced the wonders of the park with a grant-funded trip that included round-trip transportation, entrance into the park and unlimited use of the in-park shuttle. In the past two years, Kids to Trees has sent over 1,600 students to the park.
In many cases, this was the first opportunity for these kids to visit a national park.Through a partnership with the National Park Service, visitors are encouraged to use the shuttle services when visiting our parks in order to cut down on the number of vehicles in the park, reducing both traffic congestion and greenhouse gas emissions. With autos being the single greatest source of greenhouse gas emissions in our parks, taking the shuttle is not only comfortable and convenient, it’s also the smartest way to see the Sequoias.
