A couple of hundred hungry Kiwanians and their friends Friday night celebrated an early Valentine’s Day as they munched on appetizers, Alaskan King Crab, roast pork and trip-tip and more. For the Kiwanis members, it was their 8th annual Valentine’s Day dinner held at the West Hills College Conference Center.
Kiwanis President Bob Clement welcomed the visitors and urged them to enjoy the fine dining presented by the West Hills College Lemoore Culinary program. The Kiwanis also offered a silent auction and a toast to former West Hills College Lemoore President Don Warkentin, who was one of the founders of this annual celebration.
The Kiwanis Club is one of the oldest in Lemoore and has sponsored numerous events and activities throughout its decades-long existence, including the annual Tulare-Kings All Star football game held every summer. The Kiwanis are currently helping to raise money for the Lemoore Police Athletic League (PAL) program. Lemoore Police Chief Darrel Smith was on hand to explain the PAL program and the need for it in Lemoore.
