The Mary Immaculate Queen School's Theater & Arts Players presented "Saving Vela: A Test of Faith," on Wednesday night, March 16 at 6 p.m. in MIQ's O'Doherty Hall. The audience was thoroughly captivated by the spiritual and inspiring play written and directed by 8th grade and English teacher, Mr. Armando Abad.
According to Abad, the play begs the question of how is faith defined? How is it measured? How does someone cultivate faith within himself and how much trust do we put on faith? The story began and ended in a Hebrew home owned by Mathias and Helen, whose daughter Vela has been sick for many months. Without a cure, Vela could die within a few days. Although faith was tested, faith prevailed in the end.
