It was a contest where some contestants gave up a little bit more than the others to win the annual Fatte Albert's Challenge, a pizza-devouring effort and an endeavor not for the faint of heart, or anyone on a diet.
When it was all over there were two 2-man teams that walked away with the grand prize of $150 per pair. Despite his "giving up" his pizza shortly after the Challenge ended, Mike Prefontaine and his partner Drew Quindt, managed to down 10 large slices of Fatte Albert's largest pizza and ended up sharing the prestigious crown with Jacob Pelton and Brian Sanchez, both of whom rather easily consumed 10 slices. Neither one of them managed to leave anything behind - if you know what I mean.
The Challenge was held on Sunday afternoon in the Lemoore City Park and its contestants were cheered on by a crowd of about 200 persons who surrounded the competitors as they pigged out on Fatte Albert's pizza. The contestants had about 10 minutes to consume as much of the pizza pie as they could, with only two teams downing 10 slices each.
The Challenge came on the final day of the three-day Lemoore Pizza Fest and by all accounts it turned out to be a huge success with crowds showing up every day.
