AT&T contributes $20,000 to help West Hills Coalinga students secure employment

The funding will support programming and coding, residential electrical and mobile air conditioning courses offered in the upcoming 2016-2017 school year.

“This will offer beneficial advancements of technical skills for many of our local community members as they strive to improve their employment opportunities,” said David Castillo, WIT Director and WHCCD Director of Special Grants.

The $20,000 will also fund scholarships to cover student tuition costs for coding and programming courses, which are likely going to be offered in Mendota in late June. It will also pay for a field trip for the students to Bitwise Industries, a Fresno based technology company.

Funds will also cover the costs of materials and supplies for residential electrical and mobile air conditioning classes, which are part of WHCC’s adult education program.

All of these classes will be offered at no cost to students, as a result of cooperation between AT&T, WHCC, and WIT.
