Lemoore High School’s Homecoming Week ended on a positive note when the 2016 Queen and King were announced during halftime of Friday night’s game against Golden West, which unfortunately for the Tiger faithful, the Tigers lost 44-21.
The list of Homecoming queens and kings was extensive this year, and they started the day with the Homecoming Parade in downtown Lemoore before being driven to Tiger Stadium for the big announcement.
The 25-minute halftime ceremony ended when Monica Lopez, representing the AVID Club and Adrian Zamora, representing LEAF, were named the Homecoming Queen and King. The two quickly took a brief tour around the track as the large Homecoming crowd applauded. The two will share this memory for the rest of their lives.
The other Homecoming candidates included Lysaundra Aquino of the Soccer Club; Iris Hernandez, Pep Squad; Tashoni Morales, HOOPS; Serena Mendoza, Choir, and Carla Perez, Spanish Club. King candidates included Raymond Gonzalez, Band; Joe Homan, Football; Kelechi Ndoh, Sports Medicine; Noa Young, Choir, and Alex Zendejas, Soccer.
There were also underclassmen winners, including freshmen Princess Jasmine Gutierrez and Prince David Mendez, Sophomores Gabriella Monreal and Anthony Jones, and Juniors Imani Benson and Ray Escandon.
