Assemblymember Rudy Salas was sworn into office on Monday (Dec. 5) by the Honorable Mariano Florentino-Cuellar, Associate Justice of the California Supreme Court at a ceremony at the State Capitol.

Salas is one of the most visible members of the Assembly, often visiting communities within his district, including Lemoore. He is a constant presence in Kings County.

This marks the beginning of his third term for Salas representing the 32nd Assembly District.

“Representing communities in the Central Valley has been an incredible honor.” said Salas. “I plan to take on the issues that matter to the Central Valley, like increasing water availability, protecting jobs, improving our schools, and keeping communities safe. I am humbled to have been re-elected to this office and look forward to the work ahead.”

Salas was first elected to the State Assembly in 2012 and was elected to his third term in November winning by a margin of over 30 percentage points over his opponent. This margin is one of the largest in history won by a Democrat in the 32nd Assembly District.

Salas currently serves as the chair of the Assembly Committee on Business and Professions and is currently a member of the following standing committees: Agriculture, Governmental Organization, Veterans Affairs, and Water Parks & Wildlife.

The Legislature is scheduled to resume session on January 4, 2017.
