The old Fresh & Easy Market, located at on Cinnamon Ave., just off Lemoore Avenue, didn’t stay empty for very long. A small chain that operates 14 small grocery stores, most of them in the Valley, and at least one in Ventura, opened for business on Dec. 1 in the former popular market.

The former Fresh & Easy, a popular market with Lemoore shoppers, closed its doors in early 2016 when, according to the Los Angeles Times, a lack of cash and the inability to obtain financing led to the chain’s downfall.

It was nine years ago, that Fresh & Easy, formerly a British supermarket chain, opened hundreds of stores in the United States, hoping its local markets, featuring organic foods and quick checkout service, would appeal to Americans.

Apparently, it didn’t, except in Lemoore.

Enter the Lemoore Food Center manager and partner in the chain, Musaid Ali Shaibi, who decided the old Fresh & Easy structure would be a perfect location for a new grocery market. The company completely renovated the interior, nixing the computer checkout system, instead installing a traditional checkout system.

So far things are going well said Mohamed Ali, who helps run the store with his father. “It’s been positive.”

The new store also features an impressive vegetable and fruit section at the store’s entrance as well as a large Hispanic food selection and an attractive array of meats in in a large rear section, and you can purchase just about anything you want that can be found in a major supermarket.

The store is open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day.
