Three days of celebration began Friday in the Lemoore City Park as the Lemoore Chamber of Commerce began its annual Central Valley Pizza Festival, a weekend of fun, games, food, and plenty of pizza – including the annual pizza building contest.
The weekend began with Friday night’s beer and wine garden and plenty of activities for kids, including a rock climbing wall, bounce houses and pony ride, among others.
On Saturday, the highlight event was the annual pizza slice challenge as local organizations and groups worked feverishly for 30 minutes to build their own unique slice of pizza, which combined created about a 10 foot by 10-foot pizza.
The Educational Employees Credit Union (EECU) sponsored this year’s giant pizza contest and emerging from the mounds of dough and 16 competitors, was first-place winner, Boobilicious, winners of the $200 grand prize. Boobilicious represents Breast Cancer Awareness and was sponsored by The Chicken Shack, a Relay for Life team. Second place of $100 went to a team from West Hills College.
On Sunday, Fatte Alberts Pizza was slated to sponsor the annual pizza-eating contest as pairs of competitors attempt to chow down an entire pizza.
