West Hills College Coalinga will hold its annual graduation ceremony on May 26. This semester, over 400 graduates will earn their degrees or certificates from WHCC.
“Commencement is when we celebrate the achievements of our students and it’s one of the most exciting days of the years,” Brenda Thames, WHCC President said. “It’s a great honor to be able to participate and celebrate with our students. “
The ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the WHCC gymnasium. Commencement speakers this year will include Daniel Tamayo, the 2017 Alumnus of the Year and current director of the WHCC International Students Program and Ernest Drewry, who will receive an honorary degree in recognition of his years of dedication to the West Hills Community College District Foundation Board.
Miranda Ferrell will serve as the student speaker. Ferrell has been active during her time at WHCC and is the current Associated Student Body President, a Phi Theta Kappa member, a supplemental instructor at the WHCC library and a member of the West Hills Community College District marketing department’s Fly Crew social media team. She is also a recipient of the Presidential Citation Award in Health Science.
