Tiger tennis wins a pair of matches as Hanford visits LHS courts on Wednesday

Lemoore’s varsity girls’ tennis team is just a game behind West Yosemite League-leading Redwood as it takes on Hanford Wednesday at 4 p.m. on the Tigers’ home court. Lemoore is currently 4-1 in league play and 9-3 overall.

Lemoore added a pair of wins in the last week, beating Mt. Whitney last week (Sept. 5) 7-2 and then on Monday turning in an impressive performance, crushing Golden West 6-3.

Under gray skies, Lemoore’s Madison Kuntz defeated Stephanie Cuellar 6-4, 6-1 in the top singles match. Lizeth Garcia won a 6-3, 6-4, match against Victoria Sarkisian.

Joelene Simas dropped a 1-6, 5-7 match to Emily Wells while Lisbeth Flores lost to Catie Camacho 6-7, (3-7), 2-6.

In other action, Jenny Paez defeated Zayna Villarreal 6-2, 6-2 and Paige Clarke beat Karina Gonzalez 6-0, 6-3.

In doubles play, Simas and Paez lost 2-8, 6-8. Garcia and Cassie Cervantes won their Lemoore match 8-2 and Kuntz, and Aliana Cabuhat won 8-0.

The Lemoore junior varsity won 3-2 in a match that came down to a tie breaker.
