West Hills College Lemoore’s women’s golf team shot its best team score of the season this week to clinch the Central Valley Conference Championship for the first time in the program’s history.

The ladies traveled to the Copper River Golf Course in Fresno for the final conference match of the season on Oct. 31 and will now head to the Northern California Regionals on Nov. 6 and Nov. 7, thanks to their first place finish.

“The girls hung in there all season, worked hard, and improved all season,” said Head Golf Coach Dave Neer. “I am very proud of them. We are looking forward to having fun and playing some good golf at the Regionals. This is our first conference championship in the program’s history since it started in 2004, and I couldn’t be prouder.”

Team members Dani Kinder, Madisyn Levan, Aiyana Barrios and Lauren Black, shot a combined 347. Kinder led the way with a 72 backed up by an 82 from Levan. Barrios shot a 93 and Black shot a 100.

"I am extremely happy that not only did our team play well, we actually won the first ever Conference title for West Hills women’s golf,” said golfer Dani Kinder.  “It was a great experience that we can build off of for the Regional Championship this weekend.”

The team will now go on to play in the Northern California Regionals, held Nov. 6 and Nov. 7 at the Buena Vista Golf Course in Taft. The best four teams and six individuals from that competition will advance to the State Championship the following week, Nov. 12 and Nov. 13 at Morro Bay golf course.
