It rises into the grey Valley winter sky, a shiny new edifice, dwarfing the surrounding landscape. While technically it’s a hotel – a modern member of the famed Hilton chain – its stated purpose is a substitute of sorts for travelers, who seek the comforts of home.

The Hilton Home2Suites is open and ready for business. The $9-$10 million hotel is the latest addition to Hanford's business skyline.

Located on Hanford’s Glendale Avenue, nestled near the California Highway Patrol and the Hanford Veterinary Hospital, and only a walk away from shopping and restaurants, the Home2Suites by Hilton, is open and ready for business. For those weary travelers, requiring long business stays – whether in Hanford, Naval Air Station Lemoore, or Fresno – they can rest assured that while it’s not quite “home,” it will indeed provide many of the comforts that weary business travelers require.

Hanford’s new hotel is a Hilton Hotel franchise, owned by longtime hotel entrepreneurs Jay Patel and his son, A.J. The Patels also own the Lemoore Best Western, which they originally opened in 1995 as a Holiday Inn Express. The Patel family also owns hotels in Vacaville and Vallejo.

The new hotel is unlike anything currently in Kings County – or for that matter much of California. While the Hilton chain has nearly 400 similar Home2Suites across the world, Hanford’s is just the third such hotel in California.

And what a hotel.

The hotel has 87 rooms, compared to 104 rooms at Lemoore’s Best Western. However, the Hilton’s rooms provide comforts and amenities not offered by most hotels, because it caters to the longer-stay traveler, those visitors on business trips, who may require week or month-long and stays. Each room has a full refrigerator and a kitchen.

Each room has an expansive kitchen area, designed specifically for longer-term stays.

There is ample space to conduct business in each room. The hotel itself has a business center in addition to the usual hotel amenities: pool, fitness room and much more.

There is everything a modern traveler needs, including solar panels that provide electricity for the commanding four-story abode and electric vehicle chargers in the parking lot.

“This is basically an extended hotel,” said Rosie Marshall, a former Lemoore resident who has worked for Patel in various capacities and has been assisting him in getting the new hotel open. “It has a kitchen in each room. This is what’s hot now.”

Marshall’s daughter, Frances Perkins, in addition to her managing chores at Lemoore’s Best Western, will also manage the new Home 2 Suites.

The hotel features three room types, including master suites, and prices ranging from $129 to $179 per night. Discounts are available for extended stays.

“it’s all about learning a new brand,” said Fuerte, the longtime manager of the Lemoore Best Western, “and training the staff.”

Home2Suites is located at 1589 Glendale Avenue in Hanford. To contact the hotel, call 559-587-9957 or visit the website at www.hanfordlemoore.home2suitesbyhilton.com.
