Tigers continue their march to West Yosemite League tennis title, only roadblock Redwood
The Tigers are 8-5 overall. Lemoore’s only league loss was to perennial WYL powerhouse Redwood, a disappointing 8-1 setback on March 8.
The Tigers will hit the road on Monday (April 9) when it takes on Sierra Pacific in a nonleague match.
Lemoore crushed the Huskies Thursday afternoon, the only match in contention, a doubles’ set that Riley Jacobs and Matthew Ramirez salvaged in a 9-8 (7-1) decision.
Leading the way, as usual, was the talented singles players. Senior Spencer Denney easily won his match 6-2, 6-1, while No. 2 singles player Earl Magno continued his winning ways with 6-3, 6-2 victory.
Marjaby Bresenio had a bit of a struggle, winning his set by a narrow 6-4 decision before ending the match with a 6-1 whitewash. Mathew Crisci didn’t allow his opponent a point in a pair of 6-0 sets.
Luis Renteria and Jonathan Santiago both won their sets, Santiago giving up just one point.
In doubles action, Magno and Bresenio won 8-1 while Chris Avalos and Pete Hawken were 8-0 winners.
Denney, in Tuesday’s victory over Hanford, was named the team’s player of the match as he rolled to a pair of 6-0 sets. Magno also kept his opponents scoreless in two games.
The Tigers won the match 8-1, losing a doubles match.
The closest action came in doubles action where Colin Bresenio and Marjaby Bresenio struggled to an 8-5 win while Jonathan Santiago and Chris Avalos dropped lost their match 9-7.
