Hanford Representative David Valadao is looking for a few good interns. Each semester. Congressman Valadao selects high school and college students from across California's 21st Congressional District to intern in one of his three Congressional offices.

An internship within in a Congressional Office provides students with the opportunity to learn about the role and function of the federal government while gaining valuable insight into the legislative process.
Congressional interns play a critical part in serving the people of California’s Twenty-First Congressional District. In their position, interns will be responsible for general administrative duties, conducting research, completing outreach projects, interacting with constituents, and attending events in the community with members of the congressional staff.

As high school students prepare to submit college applications and compete for scholarship opportunities, a Congressional Internship can significantly strengthen a student’s resume.
Applicants should be interested in government, public affairs, or legislative policy and must be enrolled in high school and possess excellent academic standing. Ideal candidates will be driven, energetic, and work well as a part of a team. Time commitment will vary based on individual student and their academic and extracurricular schedule. Based on availability, some students may qualify for paid Internship opportunities.
