Assemblymember Rudy Salas keeps on picking up endorsements. Recently the California State Sheriffs’ Association announced its endorsement of Salas for re-election to his 32nd Assembly District.

It comes at about the same time that Salas announced a long list of local mayors who have endorsed Salas as he campaigns for another term against Hanford’s Justin Mendes.

The list of the Valley’s mayors includes Lemoore’s Ray Madrigal, Avenal’s Alvaro Preciado, and Corcoran mayor, Ray Lerma. Other mayors include Arvin’s Jose Gurrola, Delano’s Grace Vallejo, McFarland’s Manuel Cantu Jr., and Gilbert Reyna, Wasco.

“I’m proud to support Assemblyman Salas because he truly cares about the well-being of our community,” said Madrigal. “Assemblyman Salas is a strong advocate for keeping our families and our kids safe and was instrumental n bringing millions of dollars for public safety needs and saving FFA (Future Farmers of America) for our students. Rudy is a strong voice for us – and he delivers for the Valley.”

Salas said he was “honored” to have the support of local mayors. “The interests and needs of our region are best met when leaders work together,” he said.  “I am proud to have worked closely with our local mayors to make our cities a better place to live by investing in students and schools, enhancing public safety, and addressing public health threats like valley fever and fighting for clean drinking water.”

He said the men and women who serve as sheriffs are to be admired for dedicating their lives to protecting and serving families in the Central Valley. The California State Sheriffs’ Association is a nonprofit professional organization comprised of the 58 sheriffs along with thousands of law-abiding citizens throughout the state.

Other law enforcement groups to support Salas include the California Police Chiefs Association, California Association of Highway Patrolmen, the Peace Officers Research Association of California, Los Angeles Deputy Sheriffs Association, the California Correctional Peace Officers Association, and the California Statewide Law Enforcement Association.
