Over 800 Virtual Enterprise students throughout California converged on the Oakland Marriott City Center March 16-17 as part of the Virtual Enterprises International Bay Area Conference and Exhibition Competitions – and a team from Lemoore High School played a significant role.

Lemoore High School has been a part of VE since its inception, and last weekend’s sojourn to Oakland came away with plenty of experience and at least one competition winner.

Standouts Nicholas Leon and Todd Johnson took first place in the “elevator pitch” competition.  Lemoore’s Marketing Department of Anastasia Tesic, Ethan Powers, and Jesus Amador earned a bronze medal in the Company Branding Competition.

Virtual Enterprise (VE) is an educational nonprofit that helps students become more aware of what it takes to create and run successful businesses. Simply put, VE brings the workplace into the classroom, and since its inception in 1996 has served over 140,000 students, including hundreds of Lemoore area students.

Virtual Enterprise works with schools and districts to implement a year-long credited class that provides students with an authentic, collaborative business and entrepreneurship experience.

Teams from throughout California, New York, Chicago, and even two teams from Bulgaria participated in the Bay Area Conference.

Lemoore team members also got to tour a Tesla factor in Fremont, braved the BART subway system, and spent Saturday and Sunday participating in training sessions and more competitions.

Scott Bueller, the school's VE instructor, and Lemoore High School Superintendent Debbie Muro chaperoned the large Lemoore contingent.
